The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Three practices will not be abandoned by my nation until the Hour arrives, wailing over the dead, boasting about lineage, and attributing rainfall to the stars."

Bazzar narrated it in Kashf Astar (799) from Muhammad bin Muthanna, who said, Zakariya bin Yahya bin Umara, who has no problem in him, narrated to us, saying, Abdul-Aziz bin Suhayb narrated to us, from Anas, and he related it.Abu Yaala also narrated it (3898, 3899) through two other routes from Zakariya bin Yahya, but he inserted between him and Abdul-Aziz bin Suhayb the name "Hushaym," who is a mudallis and has been shown to have practiced tadlis openly. It has been established that Zakariya bin Yahya heard directly from Abdul-Aziz bin Suhayb, so if what Abu Yaala mentioned is correct, then this would be an addition inserted into an otherwise connected chain of transmission.Its isnad is hasan because of Zakariya bin Yahya bin Umara, concerning whom there is disagreement. Abu Zura spoke of him in the harshest terms, while Abu Hatim said, "A shaykh." Ibn Hibban mentioned him in Thiqat and said, "He used to make mistakes."Haythami mentioned it in Majma (3/12) and said, "Abu Yaala narrated it, and its men are reliable," without attributing it to Bazzar. The Hafiz did the same in Matalib Aliyah (1/221), while Busiri got it right in Ittihaf (2715), attributing it to both of them and passing over it in silence.
