Abu Bakr came in to see the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and asked, "How have you risen this morning, Messenger of Allah?"He replied, "In good health, well, though as a man who has not begun the day fasting, has not visited a sick person, and has not followed a funeral procession."
دخل أبو بكر على رسول الله ﷺ قال: كيف أصبحت يا رسول الله؟ قال: صالحا بخير من رجل لم يصبح صائما، ولم يعد مريضا، ولم يتبع جنازة.
Tabarani reported it in Al-Awsat (7333) from Muhammad bin Aban Asbahani, who said, Abu Hafs Amr bin Ali told us, Abu Dawud Tayalisi told us, Abu Awana told us, from Umar bin Abu Salama, from his father, from Abu Hurairah, and he mentioned it.Haythami said in Majma al-Zawaid (3/183), "In it is Umar bin Abu Salama, whom Ibn Hibban and a group of scholars considered reliable, while others declared him daif, and the hadith of Ibn Abbas about visiting the sick has already been mentioned." End of quote.I say, Umar bin Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman bin Awf Zuhri is a subject of disagreement. Nasai and Juzjani declared him daif, while others accepted him as reliable. The conclusion regarding him is that his hadith is hasan, as Ibn Adi said.
