The Prophet ﷺ commanded us to do seven things and forbade us from seven. He commanded us to follow funeral processions, visit the sick, accept invitations, support the wronged person, fulfill oaths, return greetings of peace, and respond to one who sneezes. He forbade us from using silver vessels, wearing gold rings, silk, brocade, qassi cloth, and istabraq.
Bukhari narrated it in the chapter on funerals (1239) from Abu Walid, who said, Shubah narrated to us, from Ashath, who said, I heard Muawiya bin Suwayd bin Muqarin, from Bara, and he mentioned it.Muslim also narrated it through other routes (2066) from Ashath, who said, Muawiya bin Suwayd narrated to me, saying, I visited Bara bin Azib and heard him say, and he mentioned the hadith, with "spreading the greeting of peace" in place of "returning the greeting of peace."He also narrated it through the route of Shubah just as Bukhari narrated it, except that it contains "he forbade us from the gold ring or the gold band."
