The fever sought permission to enter upon the Prophet ﷺ.He asked, "Who is this?"She replied, "Umm Mildam."He directed her to the people of Quba. They suffered from her what only Allah knows, so they came to him and complained about it.He said, "What do you wish? If you like, I will pray to Allah to remove it from you, or if you prefer, let it be a means of purification for you."In another narration, they said, "Rather, let it be a purification."
استأذنت الحمى على النبي ﷺ، فقال: من هذه؟ قالت: أم ملدم. قال: فأمر بها إلى أهل قباء. فلقوا منها ما يعلم الله، فأتوه فشكوا ذلك إليه. فقال: ما شئتم؟ إن شئتم أن أدعو الله لكم فيكشفها عنكم، وإن شئتم أن تكون لكم طهورا. وفي رواية قالوا: بل تكون طهورا.
Imam Ahmad (14393) and Abu Yaala (1892) both narrated it through the route of Amash, from Abu Sufyan, from Jabir, and he related the same. Ibn Hibban (2935) and Hakim (1/346) graded it sahih, and the latter said, "Sahih according to the criterion of Muslim." Haythami mentioned it in Majma (2/305–306) and said, "Ahmad and Abu Yaala narrated it, and the men of Ahmad are the men of the Sahih."
