The prayer while traveling is two units, the Friday prayer is two units, and the prayers of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha are two units. They are complete, not shortened, as conveyed through the tongue of Muhammad ﷺ.
صلاة السفر ركعتان، وصلاة الجمعة ركعتان، والفطر والأضحى ركعتان، تمام غير قصر، على لسان محمد ﷺ.
Ibn Majah (1064) narrated it from Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Numayr, who said, Muhammad bin Bishr narrated to us, who said, Yazid bin Ziyad bin Abu Jaad informed us, from Zubayd, from Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Layla, from Kaab bin Ujra, from Umar, and he related it. Ibn Khuzayma (1425) also narrated it through the route of Muhammad bin Bishr, with his chain.Yazid bin Ziyad bin Abu Jaad al-Ashjai al-Kufi was deemed trustworthy by Ibn Main and Ajli, and Abu Hatim said, "There is nothing wrong with his hadith." However, Sufyan differed with him, narrating it from Zubayd, from Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Layla, from Umar directly. Nasai (1420, 1566), Imam Ahmad (257), and Ibn Hibban (2783) narrated it through this route.This chain is disconnected, because Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Layla never met Umar. It has been suggested that it is possible he heard from him, since he was born during the caliphate of Siddiq, or before it. Abu Hatim gave preference to the disconnected narration, as stated in al-Ilal (1/138), because Sufyan had a stronger memory than Yazid bin Ziyad. Others said that an addition from a trustworthy narrator is acceptable. And Allah knows best.
