When the Prophet ﷺ grew heavy with age, Tamim Dari said to him, "Messenger of Allah, shall I make you a pulpit to support your frame?"He replied, "Yes."So he made him a pulpit with two steps.
أن النبي ﷺ لما بدن قال له تميم الداري: ألا أتخذ لك منبرا يا رسول الله! يجمع أو يحمل عظامك؟ قال: بلى. فاتخذ له منبرا مرقاتين.
Abu Dawud (1081) narrated it, he said, Hasan bin Ali told us, Abu Asim told us, from Ibn Abu Rawad, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, and he related it as mentioned. Its chain is hasan, on account of Ibn Abu Rawad, who is Abdul-Aziz, for he is truthful.Bayhaqi (3/195) narrated it through the route of Shuayb bin Amr Dimashqi, he said, Abu Asim told us with it. He added in it, "two steps or three, and he sat on them." He said, "The Prophet ﷺ climbed up onto it, and the trunk that had been in the masjid yearned for him, the one that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to lean against when he gave a sermon. The Prophet ﷺ came down and embraced it, and said something to it that I do not know, then he went up onto the pulpit." The pillars of the masjid were tree trunks, and its roofing was made of palm branches.
