Jabir bin Abdullah reported,

When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave a sermon, his eyes would redden, his voice would rise, and his anger would intensify, as though he were a warner cautioning an army of an imminent attack, saying, "The enemy will come upon you morning and evening!"He would say, "To proceed. The best of speech is the Book of Allah, and the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad. The worst of affairs are those newly invented, and every innovation is misguidance."Then he would say, "I am closer to every believer than his own self. Whoever leaves behind wealth, it belongs to his family, and whoever leaves behind a debt or dependents, then their care falls to me and is my responsibility."In another narration, the sermon of the Prophet ﷺ on Friday would begin with him praising Allah and extolling Him. Then he would follow that, with his voice raised, and the narrator continued the hadith in the same manner.In yet another narration, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would address the people, praising Allah and extolling Him as He deserves. Then he would say, "Whomever Allah guides, none can lead astray, and whomever He leads astray, none can guide. The best of speech is the Book of Allah."

عن جابر بن عبد الله الأنصاري، قال

كان رسول الله ﷺ إذا خطب احمرت عيناه وعلا صوته واشتد غضبه، حتى كأنه منذر جيش، يقول: صبحكم ومساكم. ويقول: أما بعد: فإن خير الحديث كتاب الله، وخير الهدى هدى محمد، وشر الأمور محدثاتها، وكل بدعة ضلالة. ثم يقول: أنا أولى بكل مؤمن من نفسه، من ترك مالا فلأهله، ومن ترك دينا فإلي وعلي. وفي رواية: كانت خطبة النبي ﷺ اول يوم الجمعة يحمد الله ويثني عليه. ثم يقول على إثر ذلك وقد علا صوته… ثم ساق الحديث بمثله. وفي رواية أخرى: كان رسول الله ﷺ هل يخطب الناس، يحمد الله، ويثني عليه بما هو أهله. ثم يقول: من يهده الله فلا مضل له، ومن يضلل فلا هادي له، وخير الحديث كتاب الله.
