I bear witness that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The bath on Friday is obligatory upon every adult, as is brushing the teeth and applying perfume if it can be found."
شهدت على رسول الله ﷺ قال: غسل يوم الجمعة واجب على كل محتلم، وأن يستن، وأن يمس طيبا إن وجد.
Bukhari narrated it in "The Book of Friday Prayer" (880) via the route of Shuba, from Abu Bakr bin Munkadir, who said, Amr bin Sulaym Ansari narrated to me, saying, "I bear witness concerning Abu Saeed, who said, I bear witness concerning the Messenger of Allah ﷺ," and then he related it. Amr said, "As for the ghusl, I bear witness that it is obligatory. As for using the tooth-stick and applying fragrance, Allah knows best whether it is obligatory or not, but this is how it appears in the hadith."Muslim narrated it in "The Book of Friday Prayer" (846) via the route of Amr bin Harith, that Saeed bin Abu Hilal and Bukayr bin Ashaj both narrated to him, from Abu Bakr bin Munkadir, from Amr bin Sulaym, from Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Saeed Khudri, from his father, and he related the same. Muslim said, "Except that Bukayr did not mention Abdul-Rahman, and regarding the fragrance he said, even if it is from the woman's fragrance." End of quote.
