My father came in while I was performing ghusl on Friday and asked, "Is this ghusl of yours from janabah or for Jumuah?"I replied, "From janabah."He said, "Perform another ghusl, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever performs ghusl on Friday remains in a state of purity until the following Friday.'"

Tabarani reported it in Al-Awsat (Majma Bahrayn - 968), Musa bin Harun told us, Surayj bin Yunus told us, Harun bin Muslim Ajli Basri told us, Aban bin Yazid told us, from Yahya bin Abu Kathir, from Abdullah bin Abu Qatada, and he mentioned it.Its chain is hasan, because of Harun bin Muslim Ajli, who is truthful and his hadith is hasan, and the hadith rests upon him. Tabarani said, "No one narrated it from Yahya except Aban, and no one narrated it from him except Harun."Ibn Khuzayma (1760), Ibn Hibban (1222), and Hakim (1/282) graded this hadith sahih, and they reported it through the route of Harun bin Muslim, with the same chain. Ibn Khuzayma said, "This is a gharib hadith, no one narrated it except Harun." Hakim said, "This hadith meets the criteria of the two sheikhs, though they did not report it..." But this is not the case, for the two sheikhs did not report anything from this Harun, nor did any of the authors of the six foundational collections, even though his hadith is hasan.Munziri mentioned it in Targhib (1063) and said, "Its chain is close to hasan."As for his words, "he remained in a state of purity until the following Friday," in Ibn Hibban's version it reads, "he did not cease to be pure until the following Friday." Ibn Hibban said, "He means pure from sins, because whoever attends Friday prayer fulfilling its conditions is forgiven for what occurred between it and the following Friday."
