A man met Abu Hurayrah while he was performing tawaf around the House and said, "Abu Hurayrah, did you forbid people from fasting on Friday?"He replied, "No, by the Lord of the Kaabah, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade it."
لقي أبا هريرة رجل وهو يطوف بالبيت فقال: يا أبا هريرة! أنت نهيت الناس عن صوم يوم الجمعة؟ قال: لا ورب الكعبة، ولكن رسول الله ﷺ نهى عنه.
Imam Ahmad (9097) narrated it from Yunus, who said, "Al-Mastur, meaning Ibn Abbad, narrated to us, [saying], 'Muhammad bin Jafar Makhzumi narrated to us,'" and he related it. Its isnad is sahih. Al-Mastur, also said to be Al-Mustawrid bin Abbad Hinai, was deemed trustworthy by Ibn Main, and Ibn Hibban mentioned him in Ath-Thiqat. Ibn Khuzayma (2157) and Ibn Hibban (3609) both graded it sahih, except that they both narrated it through another route, from Sufyan bin Uyayna, from Amr bin Dinar, who said, "Yahya bin Jadah informed me that he heard Abdullah bin Amr bin Abdul-Qari say, 'I heard Abu Hurairah say,'" and he related the hadith.Imam Ahmad (7388) also narrated it through this same route. No one narrated from Abdullah bin Amr bin Abdul-Qari except Yahya bin Jadah, and for this reason Hafiz said in Taqrib, "Acceptable," meaning where he is corroborated, and he has indeed been corroborated in the preceding isnad. Whoever said "Abdul-Rahman bin Amr Qari" made an error.
