The wife of the Prophet ﷺ said, "One night I was thinking about the false Messiah, the Dajjal, and sleep would not come to me. When morning came, I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and told him about it."He said, "Do not do this. If he comes out while I am still alive, Allah will suffice you against him through me. And if he comes out after I die, Allah will suffice you against him through the righteous."Then he said, "There has never been a prophet who did not warn his nation about the Dajjal, and I am warning you about him. He is one-eyed, but Allah is not one-eyed. He will walk upon the earth, but the earth and the sky belong to Allah. Indeed, the right eye of the false Messiah, the Dajjal, is like a floating grape."
Ibn Khuzayma narrated it in Tawhid (56) from Ahmad bin Abdul-Rahman bin Wahb, who said, "My uncle narrated to us," and he said, "Makhrama bin Bukayr bin Abdullah bin Ashaj narrated to us, from his father, from Urwa bin Zubayr, who said, Umm Salama, the wife of the Prophetﷺ, said..." and he mentioned something similar. Its isnad is hasan because of the discussion surrounding Ahmad bin Abdul-Rahman bin Wahb, except that after he retracted the confusion that had occurred from him in the hadiths of his uncle Abdullah bin Wahb, he abandoned that confusion and his condition improved.Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Hatim said, "I asked Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Abdul-Hakam about him, and he said, 'He is trustworthy. I have seen nothing but good from him.' I said, 'Did he hear from his uncle?' He said, 'Yes, by Allah.'"He also said, "I heard my father say, 'I heard Abdul-Malik bin Shuayb bin Layth say, "Abu Ubaydullah, the nephew of Ibn Wahb, is trustworthy."'"He also said, "I heard Abu Zura say, 'We met him, but we did not write anything from him.'"He also said, "I heard Abu Zura, when one of my companions came to him and related that Abu Ubaydullah, the nephew of Wahb, had retracted those hadiths, and Abu Zura said, 'His retraction is something that improves his standing, but it does not bring him back to the rank he held before.'"He said, "I heard my father say, 'We used to write from him while his condition was sound, then afterward he became confused, then word reached me that he had retracted the confusion.'"He said, "My father was asked about him after that, and he said, 'He was truthful.'"Hakim Abu Abdullah said, "I heard Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Yaqub, the hadith master, say, 'I heard Muhammad bin Ishaq' - meaning Ibn Khuzayma - 'when he was asked, "Why did you narrate from Ahmad bin Abdul-Rahman bin Wahb, yet abandon Sufyan bin Waki?" He said, "Because Abdul-Rahman, when people objected to him over those hadiths, retracted all of them, except for the hadith of Malik, from Zuhri, from Anas, 'When supper is served,' for he mentioned that he had found it in a scroll among his uncle's books, on a piece of paper. As for Sufyan bin Waki, his copyist had inserted hadiths into his material and he went on to narrate them, and we spoke to him about it but he did not retract them, so I sought Allah's guidance and abandoned narrating from him."'"Other things were also said, but the conclusion is that his hadith is hasan after his retraction, as was stated explicitly by Abu Zura, Ibn Khuzayma, and others.
