The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite on the two Eids "Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High" [Ala 87:1] and "Has there come to you the report of the Overwhelming?" [Ghashiyah 88:1].
أن رسول الله ﷺ كان يقرأ في العيدين بـ{سبح اسم ربك الأعلى} و{هل أتاك حديث الغاشية}.
Ahmad (20080) narrated it from Muhammad bin Jafar, who said, Shuba and Hajjaj informed us, Shuba told me, saying, I heard Mabad bin Khalid narrating from Zayd bin Uqba, from Samura bin Jundab, and he mentioned it. Its chain of transmission is sahih. Hajjaj here is Ibn Muhammad Masissi, the one-eyed. Tabarani also narrated it in Al-Kabir (6773, 6777, 6778) through routes from Zayd bin Uqba, with the same wording.It will come later, in the Book of Friday Prayer, that the Prophet ﷺ used to recite these two surahs on Friday. Abu Dawud and others narrated it.
