He saw Thabit bin Rubai spit in front of himself, so he said, "Thabit, do not spit in front of yourself, for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to forbid that, and he said, 'When a man stands to pray, Allah turns His face toward him until he finishes or commits some offense.'"
أنه رأى ثبث بن ربعي بزق بين يديه، فقال: يا ثبت! لا تبرق بين يديك، فإن رسول الله ﷺ كان ينهى عن ذلك وقال: إن الرجل إذا قام يصلي أقبل الله عليه بوجهه، حتى ينقلب أو يحدث حدث سوء.
Ibn Majah (1023) narrated it, saying, Hannad bin Sari and Abdullah bin Amir bin Zurara told us, they said, Abu Bakr bin Ayyash told us, from Aasim, from Abu Waail, from Huzaifa, and he mentioned the hadith.Busiri said, "This isnad is sahih, its narrators are trustworthy, and it has a supporting narration in the Sahihayn and the Muwatta from the hadith of Ibn Umar."I say, the correct view is that it is hasan, because of Aasim, who is Ibn Bahdala. Daraqutni and Bazzar criticized him with regard to his memory, though his hadith is hasan. Ibn Khuzayma (924) graded it sahih.
