I once saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ standing at the door of my chamber while the Abyssinians were performing their play in the mosque, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was screening me with his cloak so that I could watch their play.
رأيت رسول الله ﷺ يوما على باب حجرتي، والحبشة يلعبون في المسجد، ورسول الله ﷺ يسترني بردائه أنظر إلى لعبهم.
Bukhari related it in the Book of Prayer (454), and Muslim related it in the Book of the Two Eid Prayers (18/892), both from the hadith of Ibn Shihab, from Urwa bin Zubayr, who said, Ayesha said, and then he mentioned it. Muslim added, "so that I could watch their play, and he would stand there for my sake, until I myself was the one who wanted to leave. So judge for yourselves the standing of a young girl, eager for entertainment."
