Abu Bakr sent me during that pilgrimage among the announcers on the Day of Sacrifice to proclaim at Mina, "After this year, no polytheist shall perform the pilgrimage, and no one shall circumambulate the House while naked."Humayd bin Abdur-Rahman said, "Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent Ali after him and commanded him to announce Surah Bara'ah."Abu Hurairah said, "So Ali joined us in making the announcement among the people of Mina on the Day of Sacrifice, 'After this year, no polytheist shall perform the pilgrimage, and no one shall circumambulate the House while naked.'"In another narration, "I was with Ali bin Abu Talib when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent him, and he called out four matters until his voice grew hoarse, 'None shall enter Paradise except a believing soul. After this year, no polytheist shall perform the pilgrimage, and no one shall circumambulate the House while naked. Whoever has a treaty with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, his term shall be four months. When the four months have passed, then Allah and His Messenger are free from any obligation to the polytheists.'"
Bukhari related it in the Book of Prayer (369), and Muslim in the Book of Hajj (1347), both from the hadith of Ibn Shihab Zuhri, from Humayd bin Abdul-Rahman bin Awf, from Abu Hurairah, who mentioned it.The second narration is found in Nasai (2958) and Darimi (1436), both through the route of Shubah, from Mughira, from Shaybi, from Muharrar bin Abu Hurairah, from his father, who mentioned it. The wording given is that of Darimi. As for his word "sahila," it is with a kasrah on the ha, meaning his voice became hoarse. In another narration it appears as "sahula."
