The Prophet ﷺ said, "The Hour will not come until people boast about their mosques."
أن النبي ﷺ قال: لا تقوم الساعة حتى يتباهى الناس في المساجد.
Reported by Abu Dawud (449), Nasai (689), and Ibn Majah (739), all of them through Hammad bin Salama, from Ayub, from Abu Qilaba, from Anas, and he mentioned the same. The wording is that of Abu Dawud, while the wording of Nasai is, "One of the signs of the Hour is that people will compete with one another in boasting about their masjids." Its chain of transmission is sahih, and Ibn Khuzayma (1322) also graded it sahih, as did Ibn Hibban (1613, 1614), both of whom narrated it through Hammad bin Salama with the same wording.Bukhari mentioned it in the Book of Prayer (1/539) as a suspended report from the statement of Anas bin Malik, with the wording, "They boast about them, then they hardly maintain them at all."I say, Ibn Khuzayma (1321) connected it through Saeed bin Amir, from Abu Amir Khazzaz, who said, Abu Qilaba Jarmi said, "We set out with Anas heading toward Zawiya." He said, "We passed by a masjid when the time for the dawn prayer had come, and Anas said, 'Let us pray in this masjid, for some of the people go to the other masjid.' They said, 'Which masjid?' So we mentioned a masjid, and he said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A time will come upon the people when they will boast about their masjids, yet they will hardly maintain them at all," or he said, "they will maintain them only a little."Ibn Khuzayma said, Zawiya is a fortress about two farsakhs from Basra.I say, Abu Amir Khazzaz is Salih bin Rustum. Ibn Main graded him daif, while others considered him acceptable. He is fine to be cited as corroborating support. As for what the Hafiz attributed in al-Fath to Abu Yaala Mawsili alongside Ibn Khuzayma, it appears he was mistaken in that, for Abu Yaala did not narrate it with this wording that Bukhari suspended, but rather narrated it just as the compilers of the Sunan did, through Hammad bin Salama (2798, 2798).
