I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Whoever builds a mosque in which the name of Allah is mentioned, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise."
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: من بنى مسجدا يذكر فيه اسم الله بنى الله له بيتا في الجنة.
Ibn Majah (735) narrated it from Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba, and it is in the Musannaf (1/310). He said, Yunus bin Muhammad told us, he said, Layth bin Saad told us. And Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba also told us, he said, Dawud bin Abdullah Jafari told us, from Abdul-Aziz bin Muhammad, both of them from Yazid bin Abdullah bin Usama bin Had, from Walid bin Abu Walid, from Uthman bin Abdullah bin Suraqa Adawi, from Umar bin Khattab, and he related it. Its chain of transmission is sahih. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (1608), and Imam Ahmad also narrated it (126), both of them by way of Layth bin Saad with the same wording.Uthman bin Abdullah bin Suraqa is the son of Zaynab bint Umar bin Khattab, and Ibn Hajar established that he heard from his grandfather on his mother's side, based on what Abu Jafar Ibn Jareer Tabari narrated in Tahzib Athar, and based on Ibn Hibban's inclusion of it in his Sahih. Hakim mentioned in the Mustadrak (2/89) this same chain of transmission for the hadith, "Whoever shades the head of a warrior, Allah will shade him on the Day of Resurrection, and whoever equips a warrior until he is self-sufficient for his jihad will have a reward like his," and he said, this has a sahih chain, and Bukhari relied upon Uthman bin Abdullah bin Suraqa as evidence, and he is the son of the daughter of the Commander of the Faithful Uthman bin Affan .I say, Uthman bin Abdullah bin Suraqa is not the son of Uthman's daughter, rather he is the son of the daughter of Umar bin Khattab as mentioned before, and the point being cited as evidence is that both of them established that Uthman bin Abdullah bin Suraqa heard from Umar bin Khattab. As for Mizzi, he claimed that he transmitted it from Umar bin Khattab without a direct connection, relying on what Waqidi mentioned regarding the year of his death, but Ibn Hajar showed this to be a mistake on his part. See Tahdhib al-Tahdhib.Walid bin Abu Walid Qurashi is among the men relied upon by Muslim. Abu Zura deemed him trustworthy, Abu Dawud spoke well of him, and Dhahabi deemed him trustworthy in Kashif.
