I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "I did not come to you until I had sworn by these fingers of mine, as many times as they number, that I would never come to you." He showed us how he held up and clasped his fingers. "So pledge allegiance to me upon truth, by the One who grants you truth. What is it?"He said, "Islam."I asked, "And what is Islam?"He replied, "That you submit your heart to Allah, that you turn your face toward Allah, that you perform the prescribed prayer, and that you pay the obligatory Zakat. Every Muslim is sacred to another Muslim. They are two brothers who support one another. Allah will not accept from anyone a repentance for a sin committed deliberately after embracing Islam..."I asked, "What right does the wife of one of us have over him?"He said, "That you feed her when you eat, that you clothe her when you clothe yourself, that you do not strike the face, do not insult her, and do not abandon her except within the house."He said, "They will come with him." He pointed with his hand toward Yemen. "A tribe of riders, riding upon their hunger, fighting for the sake of Allah and against those who oppose them in clear matters. And the last thing to leave any one of you is Fanj..."And he said, "Every newborn is born upon the natural disposition from itself, but his parents make him otherwise, until Allah sets his devil upon him before the decree..."
أتيت رسول الله ﷺ فقلت: ما أتيتك حتى حلفت عدد أصابعي هذه ألا آتيك- وأرانا عقان ويقيئ كيف- فبايعك بالحق والذي يعطيك بالحق؟ قال: الإسلام. قال: وما الإسلام؟ قال: أن تسلم قلبك لله وأن توجه وجهك إلى الله، وتصلي الصلاة المكتوبة، وتؤدي الزكاة المفروضة، كل مسلم على مسلم محرم، أخوان نصيران، لا يقبل الله عز وجل من أحد توبة أعمد بعد إسلامه… قلت: ما حق زوجة أحدنا عليه؟ قال: تطعمها إذا طعمت، وتكسوها إذا اكتسيت، ولا تضرب الوجه، ولا تقبح، ولا تهجر إلا في البيت. قال: فحضرون معه- رأوا بيده إلى نحو اليمن- قبيلة ركبان، وعلى جوعهم، تقاتلون على الله وعلى أنواهكم البيان، وآزل ما يخرب عن أحدكم فنجده… وقال: ما من مولود إلا مولود على الفطرة من نفسه فمنه فضعه أن اجعله الله عليه شيطانه قبل القضاء…
Imam Ahmad (20022) narrated it from Affan, who said, Hammad bin Salama narrated to us, Abu Qazaa Bahili informed us, from Hakeem bin Muawiya, from his father, and he related it. His saying, "Every Muslim is inviolable to another Muslim," is found in Nasai (2568) through another route from Hakeem bin Muawiya with the same wording. Its chain is hasan because of Hakeem bin Muawiya, who is the son of Hayda Qushayri, the father of Bahz. Ajli deemed him reliable, Nasai said, "There is no harm in him," and Ibn Hibban mentioned him in Thiqat.Abu Dawud (2142) also narrated it, as did Ibn Hibban in his Sahih (160), through two other routes from Hammad bin Salama, in abridged form. Daraqutni, in Ilal (8/295), pointed to the narration of a group of those who preserved it from Abu Qazaa, among them Hammad bin Salama.Nasai (2436) and Ibn Majah (2536) both narrated it through another route from Bahz bin Hakeem, who related it from his father, from his grandfather, in abridged form.
