The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when praying for rain, would say, "O Allah, give drink to Your servants and Your livestock, spread Your mercy, and revive Your dead land."
كان رسول الله ﷺ إذا استسقى قال: اللهم اسق عبادك وبهائمك، وانشر رحمتك، وأخي بلدك الميت.
Abu Dawud (1176) narrated it from Sahl bin Salih, who said, Ali bin Qadim narrated to us, Sufyan informed us, from Yahya bin Saeed, from Amr bin Shuayb, from his father, from his grandfather, and he related it. This chain is hasan because of Amr bin Shuayb. This is how Sufyan narrated it from Yahya bin Saeed, connected in full.But Malik narrated it in the book on seeking rain (2), and Abu Dawud (1176) narrated it from him, from Yahya bin Saeed, from Amr bin Shuayb, as a mursal narration. The ruling goes to whoever adds more, and Bayhaqi (3/356) narrated it through another route from Yahya bin Saeed, connected in full, except that the chain leading to him includes Sulayman bin Dawud Minqari, known as Shadhakuni, who is discarded as a narrator.
