The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said the takbir, and the group that lined up with him said the takbir as well. Then he bowed and they bowed, then he prostrated and they prostrated, then he raised his head and they raised their heads. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then remained seated while they performed the second prostration on their own. After that, they stood and stepped backward on their heels, walking in retreat until they took position behind the others. The other group then came forward, stood, and said the takbir. They bowed on their own, then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prostrated and they prostrated with him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then stood up while they performed the second prostration on their own. After this, both groups stood together and prayed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He bowed and they bowed, then he prostrated and they all prostrated together, then he prostrated a second time and they prostrated with him as quickly as they possibly could, hastening with the utmost speed without any slackening. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave the salam and they gave the salam, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ rose, having had all the people share with him in the entire prayer.
Abu Dawud (1242) narrated it, saying, As for Ubaydullah bin Saad, he related to us, saying, My uncle related to me, [saying], my father related to us, from Ibn Ishaq, Muhammad bin Jafar bin Zubayr related to me, that Urwa bin Zubayr related to him, that Ayesha related this story to him, and she said, then he mentioned the hadith. Its chain is hasan because of Muhammad bin Ishaq, who is truthful and has clearly stated that he heard directly from his source. The uncle of Ubaydullah bin Saad is Yaqub bin Ibrahim bin Saad. Imam Ahmad (26356) narrated the hadith from Yaqub bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Muhammad bin Ishaq. From this same route it was narrated by Ibn Khuzayma (1363), and from him Ibn Hibban (2873), and it was also narrated by Hakim (1/336), all of them through Yaqub bin Ibrahim, with the same wording.Hakim said, "It is sahih according to the standard of Muslim, and it is the most complete and most thorough hadith regarding the prayer of fear."
