Abdullah bin Umar used to pray on his mount during travel, gesturing in whichever direction it faced. Abdullah mentioned that the Prophet ﷺ used to do the same.
كان عبد الله بن عمر يصلي في السفر على راحلته أينما توجهت يومى، وذكر عبد الله أن النبي ﷺ كان يفعله.
Bukhari narrated it in the Shortening of Prayer (1096) from Musa bin Ismail, from Abdul-Aziz bin Muslim, who said, Abdullah bin Dinar narrated it to us, and he mentioned it. Malik narrated it in the Shortening of Prayer (26) from Abdullah bin Dinar, from Abdullah bin Umar, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray on his mount during travel, in whatever direction it faced.Muslim narrated it in the Prayer of Travelers (37/700) from Yahya bin Yahya, who said, I read to Malik bin Anas, and he mentioned it, but Malik did not mention in his hadith the gesturing. So are these two hadiths, or one hadith, except that Abdullah bin Dinar mentioned the gesturing on one occasion and did not mention it on another, each narrating what he heard from him?
