The Prophet ﷺ used to say at the end of the witr prayer, "O Allah, I seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your displeasure, and I seek refuge in Your pardon from Your punishment, and I seek refuge in You from You. I cannot enumerate Your praise. You are as You have praised Yourself."
أن النبي ﷺ كان يقول في آخر الوتر: اللهم إني أعوذ برضاك من سخطك، وأعوذ بمعافاتك من عقوبتك، وأعوذ بك منك، لا أحصي ثناء عليك أنت كما أثنيت على نفسك.
Abu Dawud (1427), Tirmidhi (3561), Nasai (1748), and Ibn Majah (1179) all narrated it through the route of Hammad bin Salama, who said, "Hisham bin Amr Fazari told me, from Abdul-Rahman bin Harith bin Hisham Makhzumi, from Ali bin Abu Talib," and he related it.Hakim also reported it (1/306) through this route and said, "Its isnad is sahih." I say, it is as he said, for its isnad is sahih. Hisham bin Amr Fazari is trustworthy, having been deemed trustworthy by Ahmad, Ibn Main, Abu Hatim, and others. What the Hafiz said about him in Taqrib, "acceptable," appears to have been a slip of the pen on his part.Abu Dawud said, "Hisham is the earliest teacher of Hammad." And it has reached me from Yahya bin Main that he said, "No one narrated from him except Hammad bin Salama."
