The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray the final odd prayer of the night with "Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High" [Ala 87:1], "Say, you disbelievers" [Kafirun 109:1], and "Say, He is Allah, the One" [Ikhlas 112:1].
كان رسول الله ﷺ يوتر ب {سبح اسم ربك الأعلى} و {قل يأيها الكفرون} و {قل هو الله أحد}.
Abu Dawud (1423), Ibn Majah (1171), and Ahmad (2141) all narrated it through the hadith of Uthman bin Abu Shayba, who said, Abu Hafs Aabar narrated to us, who said, Amash narrated to us, from Talha and Zubayd, from Saeed bin Abdul-Rahman bin Abza, from his father, from Ubayy bin Kaab, and he related it in full. Ibn Majah added "Dhirr" between Talha and Zubayd, and he is Ibn Abdullah Marhabi, who is trustworthy and among the narrators accepted by the community. This is a sahih chain of transmission. Nawawi graded it sahih in Khulasa (1886), and Ibn Hibban (2436) and Hakim (2/257) also graded it sahih, both through the hadith of Abu Hafs Aabar, with the same wording, similarly.
