A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "So-and-so prays at night, but when morning comes he steals."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "What you mention will soon stop him."
جاء رجل إلى النبي ﷺ فقال: إن فلانا يصلي بالليل، فإذا أصبح سرق، قال: إنه سينهاه ما تقول.
Imam Ahmad narrated it (9778), Waki told us, Amash told us, he said, I think it was Abu Salih, from Abu Hurairah, then he related it. Its isnad is sahih, and the doubt is from Amash regarding the companion who narrated the hadith, whether it was Abu Hurairah or Jabir, as in the narration of Bazzar, and this doubt does not affect the soundness of the hadith.The hadith of Abu Hurairah was narrated by Bazzar in Kashf Astar (720) through the route of Muhadir bin Muwarra, and by Ibn Hibban (2560) through the route of Isa bin Yunus, both of them from Amash with this wording, without doubt.Haythami said in Majmu (2/258), "Ahmad and Bazzar narrated it, and its men are the men of the sahih." I say, it is as he said, except that Muhadir bin Muwarra, although he is among the men of Muslim, there is disagreement about him. Imam Ahmad said, "I heard some hadiths from him that were not from those of the people of hadith, he was very negligent." Abu Hatim said, "He is not solid." Nasai said, "There is no harm in him."
