I came to Ayesha, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, during the solar eclipse. The people were standing in prayer, and she too was standing in prayer.I asked, "What is happening to the people?"She pointed with her hand toward the sky and said, "Glory be to Allah."I asked, "Is it a sign?"She gestured yes.
أتيت عائشة زوج النبي ﷺ حين خسفت الشمس، فإذا الناس قيام يصلون، وإذا هي قائمة تصلي. فقلت: ما للناس؟ فأشارت بيدها نحو السماء. وقالت: سبحان الله. فقلت: آية؟ فأشارت نعم.
Malik narrated it in "Kusuf" (4) from Hisham bin Urwa, from Fatimah bint Munzir, from Asma, and she mentioned something similar. Bukhari narrated it in "Wudu" (184) from Ismail (Ibn Abu Uways) from Malik, and Muslim narrated it in "Kusuf" (905) through other chains from Hisham with something similar.
