He led the people in prayer and stood up without sitting for the tashahhud. The people called out to him, saying, "Glory be to Allah, glory be to Allah." He continued his prayer as he was, and when he completed it, he performed two prostrations. Then he said, "People, what you intended did not escape me, but nothing prevented me from sitting except what I did, following the Sunnah."
أنه صلى بالناس، فقام عن تشهده. فصاح به الناس فقالوا: سبحان الله، سبحان الله، فصلى كما هو، فلما تم صلاته سجد سجدتين ثم قال: يا أيها الناس إنه لم يخف علي الذي أردتم، ولم يمنعني من الجلوس إلا الذي صنعت من السنة.

Ibn Abu Umar Adani narrated it, he said, Haywa told us, Yazid bin Abu Habib informed me, Abdul-Rahman bin Sahammasa told me, he said, Amr bin As led the people in prayer, and he mentioned it.Busiri said, its chain has narrators who are trustworthy, Ithaf Mahra (2106).I say, it is indeed so. His statement, "from the sunnah," means from the sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ, and in it there is an indication that he ﷺ did as I did, or commanded it. This is because the majority of hadith scholars hold that when a companion says "from the sunnah," it carries the same ruling as a statement attributed directly to the Prophet.
