My mother said to me, "When did you last visit the Prophet ﷺ?"I replied, "I have not seen him for such and such a time."She scolded me, so I said, "Mother, let me go to the Prophet of Allah ﷺ, and I will not leave him until he asks forgiveness for me and for you."So I came to him and prayed Maghrib with him. When he finished the prayer, he stood up and continued praying until he had prayed Isha, then he left.
قالت لي أمي: متى عهدك بالنبي ﷺ؟ قال: فقلت: ما لي به عهد منذ كذا وكذا. قال: فهمت بي، فقلت: يا أمه دعني حتى أذهب إلى النبي الله ﷺ فلا أدعه حتى يستغفر لي، ويستغفر لك، قال: فجئته فصليت معه المغرب، فلما قضى الصلاة قام يصلي، فلم يزل يصلي حتى صلى العشاء، ثم خرج.
Tirmidhi (3781) narrated it from Abdullah bin Abdul-Rahman and Ishaq bin Mansur, both of whom said, Muhammad bin Yusuf informed us, from Israil, from Maysara bin Habib, from Minhal bin Amr, from Zirr bin Hubaysh, from Huzaifa.Imam Ahmad (23436) narrated it from Zayd bin Hubab, from Israil, in like manner, and the wording given here is his. Ibn Khuzayma (1194), Ibn Hibban (6960), and Hakim (1/312) graded it sahih, all of them through the route of Zayd bin Hubab, in an abridged form.Its chain of transmission is hasan, on account of Maysara bin Habib and Minhal bin Amr, for both of them are truthful narrators.This hadith will come again in the chapter on the merits of the companions, in the section stating that Hasan and Husayn are the two masters of the youth of the people of Paradise.
