Azami 2427

This was narrated by Nasai in Kubra (455), from Abu Bakr bin Ishaq (that is, Saghani), who said, Ismail bin Khalil narrated to us, Ibn Abu Zaida informed us, from Israil, from Isa bin Abu Azza, from Amir (that is, Shaybi), from Abu Thawr Azdi, from Abu Hurairah, who mentioned it.Its chain is hasan because of Abu Thawr Azdi Kufi. A group of narrators transmitted from him, Ibn Hibban mentioned him among the trustworthy narrators, and he belongs to the generation of the Tabiin. Abu Dawud was asked about him and said, "A distinguished Kufan who met the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." A narrator of this standing has his hadith graded hasan when there is no objectionable element in it, and he has sound foundations, this hadith being one of them.The command here is to be understood as emphasis, since the two rakahs of Fajr are not obligatory. As for what has been narrated from Abu Hurairah, "Do not abandon the two rakahs of Fajr, even if the horses were to trample you," this is daif. It was narrated by Abu Dawud (1258) and Ahmad (9253 and 9258), and its chain contains Ibn Saylan, who is of unknown status. Ibn Qattan said this is because no one narrated from him except Muhammad bin Zayd bin Muhajir bin Qunfudh. This has been documented in Minna Kubra (2/293).
