The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you finishes his prayer in the mosque, let him reserve a portion of his prayer for his home, for Allah will place good in his home through that prayer."
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: إذا قضى أحدكم صلاته في المسجد فليجعل لبيته نصيبا من صلاته، إن الله جاعل في بيته من صلاته خيرا.
Ibn Majah (1376) narrated it from Muhammad bin Bashshar and others, from Abdul-Rahman bin Mahdi, who said, "Sufyan narrated to us, from Amash, from Abu Sufyan, from Jabir bin Abdullah, from Abu Saeed Khudri," and then he related the same account. Imam Ahmad (11567) also narrated it from Abdul-Razzaq, and it is found in his Musannaf (4837), from Sufyan, relating the same account. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih (1206), narrating it through Abdul-Rahman bin Mahdi, and said, "This account was narrated by Abu Khalid Ahmar, Abu Muawiya, Abdah bin Sulayman, and others, from Amash, from Abu Sufyan, from Jabir, without mentioning Abu Saeed."I say, he is pointing to some of the routes of the hadith narrated by Muslim as mentioned earlier, all of which are sahih. What appears to be the case is that Jabir bin Abdullah would sometimes narrate from Abu Saeed, and at other times narrate directly from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ without mentioning Abu Saeed, and this was something well known among the companions altogether. The hadith of Abu Saeed Khudri has other routes besides the one I have mentioned, which is the most sahih of them. Among these is what Imam Ahmad narrated (11112) through Ibn Lahia, "Abu Zubayr narrated to us, from Jabir, from Abu Saeed," relating the same account but with the addition, "let him pray two rakahs in his house." There is well known criticism of Ibn Lahia, and perhaps this addition came from his confusion.Among them also is what Abu Yaala narrated (1408) from Sufyan bin Waki, "My father narrated to us, from Ubaydullah bin Abu Humayd, from Abu Malih," who said, "Abu Saeed Khudri narrated to me, saying, 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say,'" and then he related the hadith. Its chain is daif. Sufyan bin Waki bin Jarra has been criticized. Bukhari said, "They criticize him." Nasai said, "He is not trustworthy." It is said that the reason for this is that he was afflicted by his scribe, who inserted into his material things that were not from his own hadith, and he was advised but did not accept it, so his hadith fell into disrepute. Also, Abu Malih bin Usama did not hear from Abu Saeed.
