The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Angels take turns among you, some by night and some by day. They all gather together at the time of the Asr prayer and the Fajr prayer. Then those who spent the night among you ascend, and Allah asks them, though He knows best about them, 'How did you leave My servants?' They reply, 'We left them while they were praying, and we came to them while they were praying.'"
Malik narrated it in Qasr Salah (82) from Abu Zinad, from Araj, from Abu Hurairah, mentioning the same.Bukhari narrated it in Mawaqit Salah (555) from Abdullah bin Yusuf, and Muslim narrated it in Masajid (632) from Yahya bin Yahya, both of them from Malik, with the same wording.
