Tabarani related it in al-Saghir (988) from Muhammad bin Ali bin Khalaf al-Dimashqi, who said, Ahmad bin Abu al-Hawari told us, Abdullah bin Numayr told us, from Amash, from Imran bin Muslim, from Suwayd bin Ghafla, from Bilal, and he mentioned the hadith. Haythami said in Majma al-Zawaid (2/90), "Its chain is connected and its narrators are trustworthy."I say, the shaykh of Tabarani is perhaps Muhammad bin Ali bin Khalaf Abu Abdullah al-Attar al-Kufi, about whom Muhammad bin Mansur said, "He was trustworthy, reliable, and of sound intellect." The rest of his narrators are trustworthy, except that Abdul-Razzaq related it in his Musannaf (2/47) from Thawri, from Amash, from Umara bin Imran, from Suwayd bin Ghafla, who said, "Bilal used to strike our feet during prayer and straighten our shoulders," and he did not attribute it to the Prophet as a raised hadith. But this does not harm the version that does raise it, because of the additional knowledge it contains.Furthermore, regarding Umara bin Imran, the editor doubted this name and considered that the correct form should be Imran bin Muslim, since he found no shaykh of Amash by the name of Umara bin Imran.
