An governor in Mecca used to give two salutations. Abdullah said, "Where did he pick this up from?"Hakam said in his narration, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to do it."
أن أميرا كان بمكة يسلم تسليمتين. فقال عبد الله: أنى علقها. قال الحكم في حديثه: إن رسول الله ﷺ كان يفعله.
Muslim narrated it in "The Mosques" (581) from Zuhayr bin Harb, who said, Yahya bin Saeed narrated to us, from Shubah, from Hakam and Mansur, from Mujahid, from Abu Muamar, and he mentioned the same. He also narrated it from Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal in the Musnad (4239), where he said, Yahya bin Saeed narrated to us, from Shubah, from Hakam, from Mujahid, from Abu Muamar, from Abdullah. Shubah said, (he raised it to the Prophet once) that a commander, or a man, and he mentioned the same.As for his statement "anna allaqaha" (with fatha on the ain and kasra on the lam), it means, from where did he obtain this sunnah and manage to attain it. This is how it appears in the commentary of Nawawi.Bayhaqi said (2/177), after having transmitted this hadith through the route of Muslim, "This hadith has corroborating narrations from Abdullah bin Masud, from the Prophet ﷺ."I say, and that will follow.
