Abu Dawud (5112) narrated it from Uthman bin Abu Shayba and Ibn Qudama bin Aayan, who said, Jareer narrated to us, from Mansur, from Dharr, from Abdullah bin Shaddad, from Ibn Abbas, and he related it. Abu Dawud said, Ibn Qudama bin Aayan said "reversed his affair" instead of "reversed his scheme." Imam Ahmad (2097) and Ibn Manda in al-Iman (345) also narrated it, and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (147), all of them transmitting it from the hadith of Mansur with his chain, in like manner. Ibn Abu Asim narrated it in his book Sunnah (658) through another route with a hasan chain from Ibn Abbas, in like manner.As for his statement, "Praise be to Allah who reversed his scheme..." meaning the scheme of Satan leading to the whispering for which a person is not held accountable, and he was not given power over anything beyond whispering, for otherwise he would have striven against it just as he strives to whisper. Rather, it was placed in the hand of man, and that is why he was prevented from speaking. This is what Sindi said.Abu Dawud (5110) narrated with a strong chain from Abu Zumayl, who said, I asked Ibn Abbas, saying, "What is this thing I find in my chest?" He said, "What is it?" I said, "By Allah, I cannot even speak it." He said, So he said to me, "Is it something like doubt?" He said, And he laughed, and said, "No one has been saved from that, until Allah revealed "So if you are in doubt about what We have revealed to you, then ask those who have been reading the Scripture before you" [Yunus 10:94], the verse." He said, So he said to me, "Whenever you find something within yourself, say, "He is the First and the Last, the Manifest and the Hidden, and He has knowledge of all things" [Hadid 57:3]."
