He heard Umar bin al-Khattab teaching the people the tashahhud from the pulpit. Umar would say, "Say, 'All greetings belong to Allah, all pure words belong to Allah, all good deeds belong to Allah, all prayers belong to Allah. Peace be upon you, Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger.'"
أنه سمع عمر بن خطاب يعلم الناس التشهد على المنبر، فيقول: قولوا: التحيات الله، الزاكيات الله، الطيبات الله، الصلوات الله، السلام عليك أيها النبي ورحمة الله وبركاته، السلام علينا وعلى عباد الله الصالحين، أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله، وأشهد أن محمدا عبده ورسوله.
Malik narrated it in Kitab as-Salah (57), from Ibn Shihab, from Urwa bin Zubayr, from Abdul-Rahman bin Abdul-Qari, and mentioned it.Abdul-Razzaq also narrated it (2/202), and Bayhaqi (2/144) narrated it from him, from Mamar, from Zuhri, from Urwa bin Zubayr, from Abdul-Rahman bin Abdul-Qari, mentioning something similar. Mamar said, Zuhri used to act upon it and would say, "He taught it to the people from the pulpit, while the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ were numerous and did not object to it." Mamar said, "And I act upon it." Abdul-Razzaq said, "And I act upon it."
