A man was making supplication using two fingers, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "One, one."
أن رجلا كان يدعو بإصبعيه فقال رسول الله ﷺ أحد أحد.
Nasai (1272) and Tirmidhi (3557) both narrated it from Muhammad bin Bashshar, who said, Safwan bin Isa narrated to us, who said, Muhammad bin Ajlan narrated to us, from Qaqa, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurairah, and he related it.Tirmidhi said, hasan gharib, and in some copies hasan sahih gharib.I say, its chain is hasan because of Muhammad bin Ajlan, while Qaqa is Ibn Hakeem Kinani, one of the men of Muslim.Tirmidhi said, the meaning of this hadith is that when a man points with his fingers in supplication at the testimony, he should point with only one finger. End of quote.I say, the unnamed man referred to is perhaps Saad bin Abu Waqqas, as mentioned in the previous hadith, or another man in a different account.
