Malik bin Huwayrith came to us and led us in prayer in this mosque of ours. He said, "I am praying with you not because I intend to pray, but because I want to show you how I saw the Prophet ﷺ pray."Ayub said, I asked Abu Qilaba, "How was his prayer?"He replied, "Like the prayer of this elder of ours," meaning Amr bin Salama.Ayub added that this elder used to complete the takbir, and when he raised his head from the second prostration, he would sit and lean upon the ground before standing up.
جاءنا مالك بن الحويرث فصلى بنا في مسجدنا هذا فقال: إني لأصلي بكم وما أريد الصلاة، ولكن أريد أن أريكم كيف رأيت النبي ﷺ يصلي، قال أيوب: فقلت لأبي قلابة: وكيف كانت صلاته؟ قال: مثل صلاة شيخنا هذا- يعني عمرو بن سلمة، قال أيوب: وكان ذلك الشيخ يتم التكبير، وإذا رفع رأسه عن السجدة الثانية جلس، واعتمد على الأرض، ثم قام.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Adhan (824) from Mualla bin Assad, who said, Wahib narrated to us, from Ayub, from Abu Qilaba, mentioning the same.Shafii said in al-Umm (1/117), after narrating the hadith of Malik bin Huwayrith from Abdul-Wahhab Thaqafi, from Khalid Haddan, from Abu Qilaba, with the same wording, "This is what we hold, so we instruct whoever rises from prostration or from sitting during the prayer to press down on the ground with both hands together, following the sunnah."
