The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was seen with traces of mud on his forehead and on the tip of his nose from a prayer he had led the people in.
أن رسول الله ﷺ رؤى على جبهته، وعلى أرنبته أثر طين من صلاة صلاها بالناس.
Abu Dawud (894, 895) narrated it from Ibn Muthanna, who said, Safwan bin Isa told us, Mamar informed us. He also narrated it from Muhammad bin Yahya, who said, Abdul-Razzaq told us, from Mamar, from Yahya bin Abu Kathir, from Abu Salama, from Abu Saeed Khudri, and he mentioned the like of it.The original of it is in the Sahihayn. Bukhari narrated it in the chapter on the adhan (813) from Musa, who said, Hammam told us, from Yahya, with this chain, in a long hadith, and it will come later in the section on the merit of Laylat al-Qadr. Muslim narrated it in the chapter on fasting (1167) through the route of Abdul-Razzaq, with this chain, in like manner, and he also narrated it through the route of Yahya bin Abu Kathir in a long hadith, and it will come later in the section on fasting.
