The Prophet ﷺ fell from a horse and scraped his right side. We went to visit him, and when the time for prayer came, he led us in prayer while sitting, so we prayed behind him sitting as well.When he finished the prayer, he said, "The imam is appointed only to be followed. When he says the takbir, say the takbir. When he prostrates, prostrate. When he rises, rise. When he says, 'Allah hears whoever praises Him,' say, 'Our Lord, to You belongs all praise.' And when he prays sitting, all of you pray sitting."
سقط النبي ﷺ عن فرس فجحش شقه الأيمن، فدخلنا عليه، نعوده، فحضرت الصلاة، فصلى بنا قاعدا. فصلينا وراءه قعودا، فلما قضى الصلاة قال: إنما جعل الإمام ليؤتم به، فإذا كبر فكبروا، وإذا سجد فاسجدوا، وإذا رفع فارفعوا، وإذا قال: سمع الله لمن حمده فقولوا ربنا ولك الحمد، وإذا صلى قاعدا فصلوا قعودا أجمعون.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Prayer (411) via Sufyan bin Uyayna, from Zuhri, who said, I heard Anas bin Malik say, then he related the hadith. Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Adhan (805) via Sufyan, who said more than once, from Zuhri, who said, I heard Anas bin Malik, then he related the hadith similarly. The rest of the hadiths will come in the section on following the imam, and see the hadith of Abu Hurairah in the chapter on saying "ameen." The hadith of Anas was narrated by Abdul-Razzaq (2909), and from his route Imam Ahmad (12652), from Maamar, from Zuhri, from Anas bin Malik, limited to his saying, "When the imam says, 'Allah hears whoever praises Him,' then say, 'Our Lord, to You belongs all praise.'"On this subject there is also the hadith of Abu Musa, narrated by Muslim in the Book of Prayer (404).
