Sulayman bin Yasar said, "I have not seen anyone whose prayer resembles that of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ more than this young man," meaning Umar bin Abd al-Aziz.Dahhak said, "So I prayed behind Umar bin Abd al-Aziz, and he used to do exactly what Sulayman bin Yasar described."
ما رأيت أحدا أشبه بصلاة رسول الله ﷺ من هذا الفتى، يعني عمر بن عبد العزيز. قال الضحاك: فصليت خلف عمر بن عبد العزيز فكان يصنع مثل ما قال سليمان بن يسار.
Ahmad (8366) narrated it from Abu Bakr Hanafi, who said, Dahhak bin Uthman told us, Bukayr bin Abdullah bin Ashaj told me, from Sulayman bin Yasar, from Abu Hurairah, and he related the hadith as mentioned before. Dahhak said, Someone who heard Anas bin Malik told me, saying (and he related it).Bayhaqi (2/388) also mentioned it likewise, saying (he related the hadith in similar fashion), with both chains together. Here Dahhak did not name the one from whom he heard the hadith of Anas, but elsewhere he stated clearly that it was either Yahya bin Saeed or Sharik bin Abu Nimr, though he did not know which of the two had related it to him from Anas.Ibn Saad recorded it in Tabaqat (5/332) from Muhammad bin Ismail bin Abu Fudayk, from Dahhak bin Uthman, from Yahya bin Saeed or from Sharik bin Abu Nimr, with the same wording. Dahhak said, I used to pray behind him, and he would prolong the first two units of Dhuhr until its end.Anas has another hadith in which he described the Prophet's prayer in general terms.
