The Prophet ﷺ said, "The Jews do not envy you for anything as much as they envy you for the greeting of peace and for saying ameen."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: ما حسدتكم اليهود على شيء ما حسدتكم على السلام والتأمين.
Ibn Majah (856) narrated it from Ishaq bin Mansur, who said, Abdul-Samad bin Abdul-Warith informed us, Hammad bin Salama narrated to us, Suhayl bin Abu Salih narrated to us, from his father, from Ayesha, and he related it. Busiri said in Zawaid, "This isnad is sahih, Muslim relied on all of its narrators."I say, the hadith was also narrated by Ibn Khuzayma (574, 1585) through another route, from Abu Bishr Wasiti, who said, Khalid bin Abdullah narrated to us, from Suhayl bin Abu Salih with his isnad, at greater length, and this is its wording.A Jew came in to see the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Death be upon you, Muhammad." The Prophet ﷺ said, "And upon you." Ayesha said, "I intended to speak, but I recognized the Prophet's ﷺ dislike of that, so I kept silent. Then another one came in and said, 'Death be upon you.' He said, 'And upon you.' I intended to speak, but I recognized the Prophet's ﷺ dislike of that. Then a third one came in and said, 'Death be upon you.' I could not restrain myself, and I said, 'And upon you be death, and the wrath of Allah, and His curse, brothers of monkeys and pigs. Do you greet the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a greeting Allah has not greeted him with?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Allah does not love foul speech or indulgence in it. They said something, and we returned it upon them. The Jews are a people of envy, and they envy us for nothing as they envy us for the greeting of peace and for saying Ameen.'"The hadith has another isnad, which is what Ahmad (25029) narrated from Ali bin Asim, from Husayn bin Abdul-Rahman, from Umar bin Qays, from Muhammad bin Ashath, from Ayesha, who said the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, and in it, "They do not envy us for anything as they envy us for Friday, to which Allah guided us while they strayed from it, and for the qibla, to which Allah guided us while they strayed from it, and for our saying 'Ameen' behind the imam."Ali bin Asim is Wasiti. Ibn Madini spoke critically of him and said, "He made many mistakes." Aqeeli said, "We know him for lying." Bukhari said, "He is not strong, except that he has been corroborated."Bayhaqi narrated it (2/56) through the route of Sulayman bin Kathir, from Husayn, with his isnad, similarly, mentioning the qibla, and its isnad is acceptable. In some sources, "Umar bin Qays" has been altered to "Amr bin Qays." Umar bin Qays is Abu Sabbah Masir, who is saduq, while "Amr bin Qays" is Malai, who is thiqa.
