I prayed behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he would raise his hands when he began the prayer, when he bowed, and when he raised his head from bowing.
صليت خلف رسول الله ﷺ فكان يرفع يديه إذا افتتح الصلاة، وإذا ركع، وإذا رفع رأسه من الركوع.
Bayhaqi reported it (2/73), saying, Abu Abdullah the Hafiz informed us, Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Abdullah Saffar the ascetic told us, dictating from the original of his book, saying, Abu Ismail Muhammad bin Ismail Sulami said, I prayed behind Abu Numan Muhammad bin Fadl, and he raised his hands when he opened the prayer, when he bowed in ruku, and when he raised his head from ruku. I asked him about that, and he said, I prayed behind Hammad bin Zayd, and he raised his hands when he opened the prayer, when he bowed in ruku, and when he raised his head from ruku. I asked him about that, and he said, I prayed behind Ayub Sakhtiyani, and he used to raise his hands when he opened the prayer, when he bowed in ruku, and when he raised his head from ruku. I asked him, and he said, I saw Ata bin Abu Rabah raise his hands when he opened the prayer, when he bowed in ruku, and when he raised his head from ruku. I asked him, and he said, I prayed behind Abdullah bin Zubayr, and he used to raise his hands when he opened the prayer, when he bowed in ruku, and when he raised his head from ruku.
