The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Ask Allah to grant me al-wasilah, for no servant asks it for me in this world except that I will be a witness or an intercessor for him on the Day of Resurrection."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: سلوا الله لي الوسيلة، فإنه لا يسألها عبد في الدنيا إلا كنت له شهيدا أو شفيعا يوم القيامة.
Tabarani related it in Awsat - Majma Bahrayn (639), saying, Ahmad, meaning Ibn Ali al-Abbar, told us, Walid bin Abdul-Malik Harrani told us, Musa bin Ayun told us, from Ibn Abu Dhib, from Muhammad bin Amr bin Ata, from Ibn Abbas, and he related it.Tabarani said, "No one related it from Ibn Abu Dhib except Musa."Haythami said in Majma al-Zawaid (1/333), "It contains Walid bin Abdul-Malik Harrani." Ibn Hibban mentioned him in Thiqat (9/227) and said, "His hadith is sound when he narrates from reliable narrators." Haythami said, "This is from his narration from Musa bin Ayun, who is trustworthy." End of quote.I say, Musa bin Ayun, the narrator from him, is among the men of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim). Abu Zura, Abu Hatim, Daraqutni, and others deemed him trustworthy. The isnad is hasan because of Walid bin Abdul-Malik himself, for he did not reach the rank of full reliability.Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Hatim said, "I asked my father about him, and he said, 'Truthful.'" Jarh wa Tadil (9/10).This hadith of Ibn Abbas has other chains of transmission, among the best of which is what Abd bin Humayd related in Muntakhab (p. 585) (687), from Ubaydullah bin Musa, from Musa bin Ubayda, from Muhammad bin Amr bin Ata, from him, similarly. Musa bin Ubayda, who is Ibn Nashit Rabazi, is daif.Ibn Abu Shayba and Ahmad bin Mani also related it through the path of Musa bin Ubayda, Matalib Aliyah (1/136), number (255).
