The Prophet ﷺ said, "Islam began as something strange and will return to being strange as it began, and it retreats between the two mosques as a snake retreats into its hole."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: إن الإسلام بدأ غريبا وسيعود غريبا كما بدأ، وهو يأرز بين المسجدين كما تأرز الحية في جحرها.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Faith (146) through various routes from Shababa bin Sawwar, who said, "Aasim (that is, Ibn Muhammad Umari) narrated to us, from his father, from Ibn Umar," and he related it.
