The Prophet ﷺ said to Kaab bin Ujra, "Kaab bin Ujra, fasting is a shield, charity extinguishes sin, and prayer is an offering," or he said, "a proof. Kaab bin Ujra, no flesh that has grown from unlawful sustenance shall enter Paradise. The Fire is more deserving of it." The hadith continues.
Ahmad (14441), Abu Yaala (1999), and Bazzar - Kashf (1609) narrated it, and Ibn Hibban (4514) and Hakim (3/479-480) graded it sahih, all of them from the hadith of Abdul-Razzaq - and it is in his Musannaf (20719) - from Maamar, from Ibn Khuthaym, from Abdul-Rahman bin Sabit, from Jabir bin Abdullah, who mentioned it in a long hadith. Its chain is hasan because of Ibn Khuthaym - with the diminutive form - who is Abdullah bin Uthman bin Khuthaym, for he is hasan al-hadith.
