I came to Ayesha to ask her about wiping over leather socks.She said, "You should go to Ibn Abu Talib and ask him, for he used to travel with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."So we asked him, and he said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ set three days and their nights for the traveler, and one day and night for the resident."
أتيت عائشة أسألها عن المسح على الخفين، فقالت: عليك بابن أبي طالب فسله؛ فإنه كان يسافر مع رسول الله ﷺ، فسألناه فقال: جعل رسول الله ﷺ ثلاثة أيام ولياليهن للمسافر، ويوما وليلة للمقيم.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Purification (276) from Ishaq bin Ibrahim Hanzali, who said, Abdul-Razzaq informed us, Thawri informed us, from Amr bin Qays Mulai, from Hakam bin Utayba, from Qasim bin Mukhaymara, from Shurayh bin Hani, who said, "I came to Ayesha," and he related the hadith.Muslim said, "Whenever Sufyan mentioned Amr bin Qays, he would praise him."I say, it is also found in Musannaf Abdul-Razzaq (1/203, no. 789), and Abdul-Razzaq also narrated it (788) from Mamar, from Yazid bin Abu Ziyad, from Qasim bin Mukhaymara, with the same wording.
