The Prophet ﷺ said, "On the Day of Resurrection, the disbeliever will be brought forward and asked, 'If you had an earth full of gold, would you offer it as ransom?' He will reply, 'Yes.' He will then be told, 'You were asked for something far easier than that.'"In another narration, "He will be told, 'You have lied. You were asked for something far easier than that.'"
أن نبي ﷺ كان يقول: يجاء بالكافر يوم القيامة، فيقال له: أرأيت لو كان لك ملء الأرض ذهبا أكنت تفتدي به؟ فيقول: نعم، فيقال له: قد كنت سئلت ما هو أيسر من ذلك. وفي رواية: فيقال له: كذبت، قد سئلت ما هو أيسر من ذلك.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Softening of Hearts (6538), and Muslim in the Book of Paradise (2805: 52-53), both through routes from Qatada, from Anas, and he mentioned it. The wording is Bukhari's, and the second version is Muslim's.
