The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is not one among you but Allah will speak to him, with no interpreter between them. He will look to his right and see nothing but the deeds he has sent forth, he will look to his left and see nothing but the deeds he has sent forth, and he will look in front of him and see nothing but the Fire facing him. So guard yourselves against the Fire, even with half a date."
Bukhari narrated it in Riqaq (6539), and Muslim in Zakat (1016:67), both through Amash, from Khaythama, from Adi bin Hatim, who said, and then he related it. The wording given is that of Muslim, and Bukhari's wording is similar. In one version he added, "Whoever cannot find that, let him do so with a kind word."
