The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "On the Day of Resurrection, a man will take his father by the hand, intending to bring him into Paradise. But a voice will call out, 'Truly, no idolater enters Paradise. Allah has forbidden Paradise to every idolater.' He will say, 'My Lord, my Lord, this is my father!' Then his father will be transformed into a hideous shape with a foul stench, and the son will let him go."Abu Saeed said, "The companions of Muhammad ﷺ understood this to refer to Ibrahim, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ told them no more than that."
Ibn Hibban recorded it in his Sahih (252), and this is his wording, as did Bazzar in Kashf Astar (94), and Hakim (4/587–588), all of them from the hadith of Mutamir bin Sulayman, who said, "I heard my father narrating from Qatada, from Uqbah bin Abdul-Ghafir, from Abu Saeed," and he related it.Hakim said, "This is a sahih hadith according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs, though they did not record it."
