The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, "Assad bin Kurz, you will not enter Paradise through your deeds, but through the mercy of Allah."I asked, "Not even you, Messenger of Allah?"He replied, "Not even me, unless Allah rescues me or envelops me in mercy from Himself."

Bukhari narrated it in Tarikh al-Kabir (2/49), and Tabarani in Al-Kabir (1/316), both through two routes from Baqiya bin Walid, who said, Artah bin Munzir Sakuni told me, who said, Mahasir bin Habib Zubaydi told me, from Asad bin Karz, who said, then he mentioned it.Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Mahasir bin Habib Zubaydi (who is the brother of Damra bin Habib Zubaydi Shami). Abu Hatim was asked about him and said, "There is no harm in him." Baqiya bin Walid stated explicitly that he heard the hadith directly in the version recorded by Bukhari in Tarikh al-Kabir.Haythami said in Majma (10/357), "Tabarani narrated it, and it contains Baqiya bin Walid, who practices tadlis, but the rest of his narrators are trustworthy." His practice of tadlis does no harm here, since he stated explicitly that he heard it directly.
