The Prophet ﷺ performed all the prayers on the day of the Conquest with a single ablution, wiping over his leather socks.Umar said to him, "You did something today that you never used to do!"He replied, "I did it deliberately, Umar."
أن النبي ﷺ صلى الصلوات يوم الفتح بوضوء واحد، ومسح على خفيه، فقال له عمر: لقد صنعت اليوم شيئا لم تكن تصنعه! قال: عمدا صنعته يا عمر!
Narrated by Muslim in the Book of Purification (277), from the hadith of Yahya bin Saeed, from Sufyan, who said, Alqama bin Marthad narrated to me, from Sulayman bin Burayda, from his father, and he related it.And in Tirmidhi (61), the Prophet ﷺ used to perform wudu for every prayer, but on the day of the Conquest he prayed all the prayers with a single wudu. Also on this subject, regarding not performing wudu because of what fire had touched, is the hadith of Jabir that the Prophet ﷺ had a sheep slaughtered for him and ate from it, then rose for the Dhuhr prayer, then the rest of the sheep was brought to him, and the time for the next prayer came, so he rose and prayed without touching water. So he combined the two prayers with a single wudu, each of them within its own time.
